  • Why Did You Choose to Be a Phlebotomist?

You have to explain your reasons honestly. You cannot imply that your reason is just for the paycheck. For example, you can say: “I want to do my part to assist people receive the high quality of health care they deserve.” You can elaborate it with your own words. You should show your intention to be a phlebotomist.

  • How Would You Calm an Upset Child?

One of the duties of a phlebotomist is to calm patients including children. To answer this question, you can say: “In my experience, I’ve found that asking parents to bring a stuffed blanket, animal, or other favorite toys and then using it to divert the attention of the child words well.” Alternatively, you can also tell a story that relates to this case so that it will convince the hiring employer more.

  • How Will You Stay Motivated?

Becoming a phlebotomist can be boring because you do the same duties. To stay motivated, you can explain your own way like this: “I know that the patients’ health in the health care facility is the main priority. My motivation is because I always give 100% with each patient because I play an important role to help all the patients feel better and maintain their health”.

  • What If You Cannot Find a Vein?

Before answering this question, make sure that you’ve read the policy of the health care facility regarding to the number of attempts you can make. For example, you can say: “I understand that that ABC Clinic’s policy is to ask for help if I cannot find a proper vein after 2 attempts.” If you can, you can elaborate it further.
